ARC: Sales for May Set New Records

ARC's summary of May reporting and settlement results were released Thursday. Among the highlights was the news that total sales of $7.1 billion in May 2006 were 15 percent over the same month in 2005 and established a new record high for a four-week processing month. In addition, international fares set a new record for dollar volume in a four-week processing month at $2.8 billion, and credit card billings reached a record high with just under $6 billion for a four-week processing month. Travel agents and CTDs continued to grow their ARC reported average weekly sales per location, topping the previous record by more than $4,000 and reaching a weekly average of $82,342, which is 21 percent higher than just a year ago.
