ARC - Travel Agent Air Ticket Sales Up

cashThe consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S. travel agencies increased 2.93 percent year-over-year in 2012 compared to 2011, ARC reports. This is a 9.22 percent gain compared to 2010. Ticket sales for 2012 totaled $84.5 billion, compared to $82.1 billion in 2011, and $77.4 billion in 2010, according to ARC.

Passenger segments in 2012 decreased slightly 0.13 percent at 369.9 million, compared to 370.4 million in 2011–while reflecting a 3.0 percent decrease compared to 2010, ARC reports. Ticket transactions in 2012 also decreased slightly by 0.47 percent over 2011, while down by 2.5 percent compared to 2010. 

Nearly 16,000 travel agencies and 187 airlines use ARC's settlement services.
