February 1, 2006 By: Camie Foster Travel Agent

Hawaii's hotel industry set new personal bests last year in room revenue, average daily rate and revenue per available room, according to data released in the latest Hawaii Hotel Flash report issued Wednesday by Honolulu-based Hospitality Advisors. Room revenues topped $3 billion, breezing past the previous record set last year at a clip of almost 10 percent. Additionally, a 1.9 percent rise in room nights paired with a 2.6 percent decline in available rooms helped ADR statewide hit a new record of $166.86, a 9.7 percent increase above 2004 rates. RevPAR, meanwhile, climbed by 14.6 percent to a record $135.50. Overall, Hawaii hotels posted a strong enough showing to place the state second on the national top 25 U.S. lodging markets tracked by Smith Travel Research—behind only New York City—for occupancy, ADR and RevPAR.
