International Traveler Spending Hits New High

International travelers are spending more than $2 million a day, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). According to the organization, in 2005 global travelers spent about $682 billion internationally. This represents an increase of $49 billion, or 3.4 percent, from 2004 tallies. UNWTO says that if transportation spending of $130 billion is added, the total spent on international travel rises beyond $800 billion, representing 6 percent of the global export of all goods and services.
