PATA: Arrivals Will Sustain 8% Growth Pace

The Strategic Intelligence Centre of the Pacific Asia Travel Association is forecasting that international arrivals throughout Asia and the Pacific will climb at an average rate of almost 8 percent a year between 2004 and 2008. This projection is part of PATA's newly released "Asia Pacific Tourism Forecasts 2006–2008." According to the report, the rate of increase in international arrivals is strong in most destinations within the region. It adds that a slowing rate of increase beginning in 2006 reflects the development of a stable pattern following the rapid recovery from such impacts as SARS, natural disasters and terrorism.
