Report: Royal Canadian Mounted Police Thwart Plot to Bomb New York – Toronto Rail

railCNN is reporting that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have thwarted a plot to bomb a passenger train in Canada. The two suspects, Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, allegedly were to carry out the plot with the support of al Qaeda.

Reuters reports that the suspects were going to attack the railroad between Toronto and New York City. A source in U.S. law enforcement told Reuters that there is no connection between this plot and the recent Boston Marathon bombings.

RT.com reports that the suspects had been under investigation for over a year before being brought into custody, with assistance from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
