Stat: U.S. Agencies Set Air Sales Record

ARC reports that consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 4.02 percent year-over-year in 2014 compared to 2013, totaling $89.6 billion versus $86.2 billion the year before. December 2014 sales were up 3.9 percent at $5.5 billion compared to December 2013 at $5.3 billion, ARC said.

Ticket transactions increased 2.39 percent in 2014 vs. 2013 to 146 million. Passenger segments also increased in 2014 by 2.68 percent to 377.7 million, compared to 363.9 million in 2013.

In December 202 carriers reported, as did 12,862 retail locations. Average daily sales were $11,918. 331 STP locations reported, as did 1,687 VTC locations.
