Of the travel agents polled, 39 percent reported that their clients spend most of their budget on flights, followed by hotel accommodations, tour reservations, cruises and finally, food and beverage packages.

Agents stated that families looking to travel internationally this year are most likely to travel to the Caribbean / Mexico (49 percent) or Western Europe (23 percent). These destinations are far ahead of other destinations such as Eastern Europe, Central America and South America as popular travel destinations among families.

Agents said that families planning an international trip are most concerned with the affordability of travel to the area and local activities, while others noted the importance of activities for both adults and kids. Less important factors in choosing an international destination include no visa requirements, a place where English is commonly spoken or understood, transit time and educational offerings.

Clients traveling with families on an international trip are reportedly most concerned with medical emergencies, while security and safety, trip interruptions or delays and lost or stolen personal items are also of concern.
