University of Canterbury Tourism Expert Investigates Women’s Travel Preferences

TravelerUniversity of Canterbury tourism expert Dr. Girish Prayag has been researching women’s travel preferences, in particular, those related to the girlfriend getaway, or GGA.

A recent article on voxy.co.nz describes the study and how this expanding form of leisure travel has generated new standards and expectations among female international travelers.

The topic has become one of interest among researchers, and Dr. Prayag will be addressing the subject during a lecture for the University of Canterbury’s Diversity Week in March.

Among his findings are trends such as hotels that offer female-only staff, secure lifts and floor access, healthy options in hotel restaurants, full length mirrors and dressing mirrors with white light as part of room amenities. The significance of GGA research lies in the fact that little pre-existing information has been previously collected on the subject.
