Value Trumps Price Among Shoppers

Consumers are not buying based on price alone. Instead, they are relying more on their perception of value when deciding which brands to stay loyal to during the recession, according to Brandweek. The following are the travel brands with the most loyal customers.

Air Travel

JetBlue and Southwest Airlines tied for the brand with the most loyal consumers. For JetBlue, the issue of in-flight comfort leveraged against its rates created a price value equation that the consumer really appreciated. The same was true for Southwest Airlines.

Hotels

Luxury Hotels: While W Hotels excels in terms of staff and service, survey respondents said it's the added amenities that really sets the chain apart.

Upscale Hotels: Embassy Suites succeeds thanks to its value and size. The chain was also recognized for its excellent staff and maintenance. In this competitive category, Hyatt and Marriott finished second and third while Westin was ranked last.

Midscale Hotels: Comfort Inn beat out Best Western, Hampton Inn and others based on its many locations and the amenities guest receive for the money they paid. Holiday Inn finished at the bottom of the category which places an emphasis on service and staff.
