From a study that looked at the value vacation time can bring to the economy to the U.S. Travel Association's defense of Brand USA, this week in travel stats the talk was about the value of the travel industry. 

Americans Lose 500 Million Vacation Days in 2013

Purchasing Power has released a new infographic, "Vacations: A Luxury or Necessity," that highlights the continued vacation-deprived state of the American public. A recent survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Purchasing Power in March 2014 showed that 28 percent of full-time employees who receive any paid time off didn't take a vacation getaway last year where they truly went away and 52 percent of those employees said it was because they couldn't afford to do so.

U.S. Travel Association Defends Value of Brand USA

The U.S. Travel Association has released a new report highlighting the power of Brand USA to drive U.S. economic growth and job creation. 

The new report, Brand USA: Working for All of Us, includes statements from travel business leaders testifying to the program's impact.

Average Trip Budget Up in Q1 2014

According to the Tripology consumer travel trends report, the average trip budget in the first quarter of 2014 was 8 percent higher than one year ago.

Top Mobile App Features

A recent survey by Software Advice revealed the features that travelers look for in hotel mobile apps. The survey found that 60 percent of travelers will download a new app for an upcoming trip. About 2,000 randomly selected U.S. travelers were surveyed to see what mobile app features they would most likely use, as well as preferred local-discount and room-service features.
