This week the top travel news on Travel Agent involved the loss of two longtime figures in the travel industry.

Last Friday Unique Vacations Inc. (UVI) announced the death of long-time employee Warren Cohen, who had passed away Wednesday at the age of 62. UVI is an affiliate of the worldwide representatives of Sandals Resorts International (SRI).

“Warren represented Sandals and Beaches in the best way possible and he did this throughout his illness, which is a testament not only to his spirit but to the people who supported him," SRI Chairman Gordon "Butch" Stewart said in a statement at the time. "Warren was everybody’s friend and we will miss him more than words can express.”

Cohen's career in the travel industry, which spanned more than three decades, began at Flyfaire Vacations in 1973.

Tzell Travel Group announced a loss of its own this week when longtime agent Rina Anoussi passed away at the age of 67 from cancer.

Anoussi had been part of the travel industry for more than 40 years, beginning her career as a ticket and reservations agent for El Al Airlines at the Tel Aviv Hilton. She spent 28 years at Tzell after her move to New York

This December Travel Agent is planning to continue highlighting major figures in the travel industry we've lost over the past year, a feature we began last year. [] If you know anyone you feel should be included, please reach out at [email protected]
