Grace Bay Updates Us on New Design and Dining (VIDEO)June 6, 2014 By: Ruthanne Terrero Travel Agent
Nikheel Advani, COO and Principal of Grace Bay Resorts on Turks & Caicos dropped by to see us recently to update us on happenings at his hotels.
On the food and beverage front, Grace Bay Club has launched “Jars,” a “toes-in-the-sand” eatery with specialty rum cocktails. The best part? Everything is served in a jar, from salads, to the main course.
The success to the concept, says Advani is that “people just want simple good food and they want to be on the beach.”
At West Bay Club, the group’s newest resort, Noodle Bar and Grille has opened serving noodles and pastas from all over the world, along with fresh fish that cooked right on the grill.
Turks & Caicos as food destination is growing, he adds. “I can recommend 20 or 25 amazing restaurants. It all culminates in the Caribbean Wine and Food Festival that occurs every year the first weekend in November. There are lot of amazing chefs and winemakers; it's three days of really good times so watch that space.” This year’s Caribbean Wine and Food Festival (caribbeanfoodandwinefestivaltci.com) runs from November 6-8.
Grace Bay Club has partnered with designer Thom Filicia, known for his “New-American Style,” to create the look for the resort’s gated-community residences, which are 6,000-square-foot homes with private pools on Grace Bay Beach. He’s also redoing all of the villas at the resort and has redesigned the hotel’s lobby.
“We think we'll do more with him,” says Advani. “He's just got this great sensibility. It's pretty clear that when we sit down together, there is this magic that goes on.”
Advani says Grace Bay Resorts may soon be expanding in Turks & Caicos and beyond. The company is looking at "one existing property which would be relaunched, another is an existing property that would be rebranded and redeveloped." The third, he said, "Is off island."
