British Concorde Jet May Be Sold To Dubai

April 13, 2009 By: Jena Tesse Fox

The final British Concorde jet, Alpha Bravo, which was originally planned to be displayed at Heathrow Airport, may be cut into pieces and shipped to Dubai, according to The Times and several other papers.

A consortium, which is being advised by former Concorde pilots, is planning to take control of the craft. It could be jointly marketed with the QE2, which was sold to Dubai earlier this year to become a floating hotel. BA’s seven-strong Concorde fleet was grounded in 2003 and six of the planes were given to museums. It is not thought likely that the plane could return to service.

BA has acknowledged that it may remove Alpha Bravo from Heathrow, but did not comment on the Dubai consortium.
