American to Upgrade Arkansas Base

October 4, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

American Eagle Airlines, a partner of American Airlines, is spending $10 million to expand facilities at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Highfill, AR. The upgrade includes a move to a larger hangar and an increase of maintenance workforce at the airport. The expansion is partly owed to American Eagle's recent addition of service between the airport and Miami, Washington, D.C. and Raleigh/Durham, NC. "American Eagle was the first scheduled airline to serve the Northwest Arkansas Airport nearly nine years ago," said Peter Bowler, president and CEO of American Eagle. "American Airlines and American Eagle believe that the dynamic economy of this great region will drive demand for more travel to more destinations around the world." Visit []. (JM)
