Boston Lodgings Most Expensive in the U.S.

The findings of the most recent's Budget Hotel Report revealed that Boston is the most expensive U.S. destination in regards to the cost of lodging.

The report looked at the specific amount travelers will spend, on average, on the cheapest available double room in May at 30 of the top U.S. destinations.

For comparison purposes, only hotels that are located in or very close to either the city center or its main attractions were considered.  As a result, hotels situated close to the city's airports or in the suburbs, which often offer much cheaper rates, were excluded.

The top five and bottom five most expensive cities are as follows:
1.  Boston $194
2.  New York $172
3.  Philadelphia $154
4.  Washington, D.C. $145
5.  New Orleans $117

26. Atlanta $52
27. Myrtle Beach $51
28. Anaheim $45
29. Las Vegas $36
30. Orlando $33
