Chugach Powder Guides in Alaska to Offer Heli-Ski and Snowcat Skiing Packages in 2013

White Mountains, AlaskaBeginning in February 2013, Chugach Powder Guides will be offering heli-ski and snowcat skiing packages for guests from its headquarters in Girdwood, Alaska.

The company is also premiering three films this fall including “Superheroes of Stoke,” which showcases its main operations in Girdwood, Alaska. Chugach Powder Guides hosted professionals, such as Elyse Saugstad, Ingrid Backstrom, Cody Townsend, Mark Abma and Richard Permin, who were captured in the film. Chugach Powder Guides’ heli-ski adventures at Winterlake Lodge in Southcentral Alaska’s Tordrillo Mountains are also featured in the movie.
 
The Teton Gravity Research film, “The Dream Factory,” which opened on September 15, includes a snowcat skiing segment with Chugach Powder Guides in Girdwood.
 
Warren Miller Entertainment’s new film, “Flow State,” premieres October 19 at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City and will feature Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety heli-skiing with Chugach Powder Guides in Girdwood and 12-time World Cup champion skier Daron Rahlves on a Kings & Corn adventure in the Tordrillo Mountains.
 
“Our programs are tried and true models for a successful guest experience, whether they are professionals or intermediate skiers, and we’re looking forward to another incredible heli-ski season this winter.” said Chris Owens, brand manager at Chugach Powder Guides.

Alyeska Resort, Alaska’s only year-round, full-service destination resort, which serves as home base for clients and allows packages to be combined with resort skiing, is also located in Girdwood.
 
Five- and seven-day heli-ski packages start at $5,400 and $7,400, and include lodging at the Hotel Alyeska, airport transfers and some meals. Heli-ski guests also have the opportunity to book “snowcat backup” seats, a guaranteed spot in the snowcat on days that the weather does not allow for heli-skiing.
 
Other packages in Girdwood include the heli-ski and Alyeska Resort package, starting at $3,800 and combining two days of resort skiing with two days of heli-skiing; and the snowcat and Alyeska Resort package, starting at $1,488 and combining two days of resort skiing with two days of snowcat skiing. All packages include the use of a Mammut Pulse Barryvox avalanche transceiver.
 
This winter will also mark the second season Chugach Powder Guides will take heli-skiers to the North Gulf Coast of Alaska. The area features terrain along the coast of Kenai Fjords National Park and the Kenai Peninsula. Trips run from February 23 to March 23, 2013, and advanced skiers will ski multiple first descents.
 
The seven-day package starts at $10,500 per person and includes up to five hours of helicopter flight time per group of four, all meals by the resident chef, accommodations at Seward Windsong Lodge, roundtrip transportation from Anchorage.
