Safari Spirit Catches Fire

April 27, 2012 By: Newswire

American Safari Cruises' 12-guest Safari Spirit yacht caught fire at Fishermen's Terminal in Seattle on the morning of April 27.

Dan Blanchard, CEO, was on board, heard the fire and woke the engineer; both made it off the vessel safely.

Blanchard stated, "I was asleep in a stateroom when I heard popping noises. I quickly exited to the outside deck and woke up the engineer/mate sleeping on board. We were both able to find our way safely to the dock and firefighters responded quickly. There were no injuries. The fuel tanks were not affected and there have been no spills reported. The cause of the fire is unknown but is under investigation."

The boat was undergoing general maintenance in preparation for it's first scheduled Alaska cruise on May 11.

Guests scheduled aboard the yacht this summer in Alaska will be contacted with other travel options.
