Targeting active travelers, Clearwater, FL, has completed the Pinellas Trail, adding to its already extensive offerings for active travelers. While Clearwater is most well known for its impeccable white sand beaches, the city notes that it is also a premier destination for sports, both on land and at sea.

Miles of hiking and biking trails and water sports in the Gulf of Mexico makes Clearwater a one-stop mecca for endless activity, the city says. Clearwater and its island beaches is an ideal spot for all travelers, particularly those who want to get up and move.

The recent completion of renovations to the Pinellas Trail further expands the city’s network of trails and paths. “The city is constantly looking for ways to enhance the experience for visitors and residents. The Pinellas Trail’s new route will provide a safe, convenient, and accessible place for people to enjoy their favorite outdoor fitness activities,” said Clearwater Communications Director, Joelle Castelli.

In addition to the Pinellas Trail, the pedestrian-friendly Beach Walk promenade is a beautiful path winding along the famous sands, perfect for a short run, bike ride, hike or even for just a leisurely sunset stroll. Bicycles and surrey bikes are available for rent at several beachfront outlets, making it especially attractive to beachgoers.

Caladesi Island State Park’s three-mile long trail in the shade of tangling mangroves provides a glimpse into Florida’s natural rustic beauty and is easily accessible either by ferry or walking during low tide. Water sports and aquatic activities are equally abundant in Clearwater and are available for all skill and adventure levels.

The Gulf of Mexico’s crystal clear, calm and temperate waters on the coast of the city are home to a number of reefs as well as a plethora of fish and sea-life, including hometown delight and tourist favorite, grouper. From tranquil time spent snorkeling, amazing scuba diving explorations and relaxing swims, to adrenaline-filled speed boat and jet-ski rides, skill testing sailing missions and exciting fishing, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Clearwater’s mild year-round weather means there’s never a bad time to visit and enjoy all nature has to offer. Plentiful and diverse accommodations make this a great vacation destination for budget travelers to luxury seekers and everyone in between.
