Marco Island Marriott in Florida Overhauls Presidential SuiteSeptember 26, 2013 By: Newswire
The Marco Island Marriott has completed a major $1.5 million renovation of its Presidential suite.
In keeping with the resort’s Balinese-inspired accommodations, the new space is designed to provide a sophisticated and relaxed setting where guests can choose to socialize, host an intimate event or simply escape. The wrap around terrace, which can accommodate up to 75 guests for intimate group events, offers panoramic, unobstructed views of the Gulf through a newly installed glass railing. The terrace also features a custom rock fire pit and seating, an elevated Jacuzzi and an outdoor bar with a private lounge all under ambient lighting from the overhead trellis.
Inside, guests are greeted by a floating garden of succulents including a carved wood Balinese figurine suspended against a tranquil waterfall. In between the garden and water elements sits an oversized oval dining room outfitted with the latest technology, including a mirror TV, which disappears when not in use.
“We wanted to design an open space where guests could enjoy Marco Island’s natural setting, expansive vistas and breathtaking sunsets,” explained Malcolm Berg, president and design director of EoA Group. “The finished product became an oasis in keeping with the resort’s “island within the island” mantra. The suite boasts tones of light sand and lively greens reminiscent of Southwest Florida’s beaches and tropical setting.”
The master bedroom features a statement en-suite bathroom. The bathroom’s glass-tiled feature wall creates a beautiful mosaic backdrop to the two-person rain shower and freestanding soaking tub. These features are all tucked behind a pair of sliding hand-carved wooden doors. To provide natural light, the designer added a skylight which casts diffused natural lighting through a ceiling mounted Ipe wood trellis.
The suite also includes a private reading room - a built-in lounge with a TV and desk, which can also double as a study. The common areas feature a plush living room space perfect for gathering and entertaining. It’s complimented with a pool table and Balinese hand-carved bar, featuring Ipe board walls reminiscent of the suite’s cabana-like exterior. The entire suite, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors, offers endless water views and natural lighting. Its finished design gives guests a comfortable ambiance with a combination of remarkable luxury and unpretentious approachability.
The starting overnight rate for the presidential suite is $5,000 per night. The space can also be utilized for small events, meetings and intimate celebrations with catering and event services available.
