The Miami Marriott Dadeland has undergone a redesign of their guest rooms and lobby, creating an open concept and focusing on artwork.
S5 Interior Design and Architecture’s designs were created to be clean while maintaining a strong architectural aesthetic, allowing artistic design to showcase the area. The renovated guest rooms, titled “Design Rooms,” demonstrate the use of room proportion as the leading focal point of the space.
As opposed to traditional furnishings and multiple patterns, seen in the previous design of Marriott guest rooms, an important aspect of the new design is the use of a local, Miami-based artist's work in the rooms. Large murals in each room are photographs by artist Alejandro Borgese were commissioned exclusively for the Miami Marriott Dadeland hotel and are part of a series called "Wild Line."
Borgese spent a year living in the Everglades National Park photographing flowers native to this region. The Everglades has been declared an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and a Wetland of International Importance – one of only three locations in the world to appear on all three lists. Borgese used 17 different flowers and every guest room floor of the hotel is represented by a different flower from the Everglades National Park.
Miami Marriott Dadeland's redesigned front desk area included white marble, contemporary lighting, and a comfortable lobby bar area that includes several flat screen TVs, ample seating, and an appetizer and cocktail menu.
The hotel has also recently undergone a renovation to their porte cochere and valet parking area.
