Panama City Beach, FL will open a new airport in May 2010. Panama City-Bay County International Airport, on Panama City Beach’s West Bay, will have a 10,000-foot runway—which will allow the airport to accommodate larger jets, as well as commercial aircraft of any size. The airport is being built on 1,300 acres of a 4,000-acre site. The Panama City - Bay County Airport and Industrial District Authority wants to make the terminal the first in the country certified to LEED standards under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program of the U.S. Green Building Council.
