Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, has announced a partnership with chef and restaurateur Alan Wong. The former “Kincha” at Grand Wailea is set to be the location for Wong’s third restaurant in the Hawaiian Islands.
Wong is known for merging various ethnic cooking styles and techniques and for highlighting locally-grown products, and will oversee the concept and menu creation for the restaurant. Chef Wong, awarded the James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Year for Pacific Northwest in 1996, currently has two restaurants in Oahu: the original Alan Wong’s on King Street (a favorite of President Obama’s, we hear); and The Pineapple Room.
The target opening date for the new Alan Wong restaurant at Grand Wailea is early 2012.
