Halekulani Features Rare Art Deco Exhibition

Halekulani is set to present the premiere of a new art exhibition, "Art Deco and the Golden Age of Travel in Hawaii." The show features original works by famous graphic design artist, Frank H. McIntosh and Yale University art professor, Eugene Savage

The installation is comprised of original vintage posters, menus, magazine covers, a model of the SS Monterey (Matson luxury cruise liner) and lithographs from the French-style Art Deco era. The specially curated exhibition is from the private collection of Mark and Carolyn Blackburn, and will be the first time that the works are available for public view.

Now on display at Halekulani, the Art Deco and the Golden Age of Travel in Hawaii exhibit will run through January 31, 2015. The installation is located along the hotel’s promenade, next to House Without a Key at The Gallery. It is open daily to Halekulani guests and the public from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and admission is free of charge.

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2014 as one of the world’s finest and most acclaimed independent luxury hotels, Halekulani has received more than 500 accolades, awards and honoraria since its inception in 1984.
