Hawaii Experiences Dip in October Numbers

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin is reporting all of the Hawaii's tourism markets, except Canada, dipped in October, with visitor arrivals falling 13.5 percent when compared to 2007 figures. This is the fifth straight month of a double-digit decline for the Islands.

Total air visitor expenditures dropped 12.9 percent ($124.6 million) from a year ago, while average daily spending declined to $189 per person from $191 in 2007. Total visitor days for air and cruise visitors decreased 12.1 percent, according to the latest statistics released yesterday by the Hawaii’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
