Meanwhile, Maui's summer hotel rates make it one of the best bargains for the summer season. With many highly desirable travel destinations sporting lower year-over-year average hotel rates, summer 2014 is looking like the perfect time to take a trip, according to priceline.com.

Additionally, national airfare averages are running about the same as last year, creating more opportunities for travelers to spend on travel without breaking the bank.
“Consumers who shop carefully will find that, for many destinations, summer 2014 is a buyers market for travel,” said Brian Ek, travel editor for priceline.com, in a written release. “This past winter’s ‘polar vortex’ effect kept many would-be travelers at home, and now many destinations are working extra hard with amazing deals to lure spring and summer tourists.”
