Hawaii Superferry to Launch Second Voyage Between Maui and OahuMay 13, 2008 By: Mark Rogers
When Aloha Airlines ceased operations, eyes turned to the troubled Hawaii Superferry to see if it would rise to the occasion and help fill the gap in inter-island travel.
“It’s a prime opportunity for Hawaiian Superferry to step up,” says Kahele Naeole, marketing coordinator for ResortQuest Hawaii. “A lot of local people are behind it.”
It would appear that Hawaii Superferry is listening. Last month, the company announced that it would add a second voyage four days per week between Maui and Oahu starting May 9. The afternoon voyage will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The second voyage will leave Honolulu at 3:30 p.m. arriving in Kahului at 7:00 p.m.; departing Kahului at 8:00 p.m. and arriving in Honolulu at 11:00 p.m. The morning voyage will continue its daily summer schedule departing Honolulu at 6:30 a.m. arriving in Kahului at 9:30 a.m.; departing Kahului at 11:00 a.m. and arriving in Honolulu at 2:00 p.m.
Reservations for afternoon voyages are now open and are eligible for the current promotional $39 one-way passenger fares and $55 one-way passenger vehicle fares that have been extended for travel through June 5. This second round trip voyage is expected to benefit the ferry’s commercial customers, offering them the opportunity to return the same day. Reservations can be made via www.hawaiisuperferry.com or 877-HI-FERRY.
