Hawaii Superferry Moves Up Annual Dry Dock

February 14, 2008 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

Hawaii Superferry moved up its annual dry dock for maintenance and recertification by the U S. Coast Guard. The decision takes advantage of the off-peak travel season to make permanent repairs related to the vessel’s auxiliary rudders, which will enhance passenger comfort.

The Alakai will be dry docked beginning February 13 for approximately two weeks. Voyages have been cancelled during this period, with service expected to resume March 3. Passengers holding reservations for affected voyages are being notified. They will either be rebooked on a future voyage or have their money refunded, and will be offered special rates from partnering airlines and rental car companies.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers while our vessel is out of service,” says Lani Olds, Hawaii Superferry director of customer experience and community relations. “Meanwhile, we are working with passengers to accommodate their needs through special rates with Hawaiian Airlines, and Hertz and Dollar rental car companies.”

Hawaiian Airlines is offering a 10 percent discount off available fares to impacted customers. Visit
