The Hawaii Tourism Authority Kicks Off New Hawaiian Music Concert Series

 

Headlined by the award-winning Hawaiian soloist, Willie K, the Hawaiian Tourist Board launches its first music concert series program this Sunday May 25 from 4:30 to 8 p.m at the Hawai’i Convention Center. In addition, there will be hula performances by 2014 Merrie Monarch Miss Aloha Hula Ke‘alohilani Serrao and Kumu Hula Tracie and Keawe Lopes’ Hālau Ka Lā ‘Ōnohi Mai o Ha‘eha‘e.

This show launches a series of free monthly performances by local musicians and dancers throughout the state. 

"Hawaiian music and dance is part of our unique culture and heritage that sets us apart from other destinations,” said Mike McCartney, HTA president and CEO. “The HTA is committed to perpetuating and promoting our people, place and culture, and this Hawaiian Music Concert Series offer an opportunity to support local artists and provide enjoyable experiences for our residents and visitors.”

The Kālaimoku Group has been selected to manage and promote the monthly concerts. They will be responsible for the organization of the events including promotions, ticket sales, revenue generation, contracting musical artists and facilities.
