Hawaii Tourism Authority Supports Increased Flights to Islands

September 2, 2009 By: Jena Tesse Fox

The Hawaii Tourism Authority has been working with various airlines to develop more direct flights from key markets as well as sustain existing flights.

HTA and HTJ supported additional flights from Japan to Hawaii to accommodate travel demand for fall. ANA has added 23 flights from Narita to Honolulu during July 17-29 and August 7-16. JAL, Northwest and ANA are also adding flights to accommodate demand during Silver Week in September. HTA and HTJ are continuing to support these flights with promotional programs through key wholesalers and travel partners.

Additionally, China’s largest non-state owned airline, Hainan Airlines, has applied to operate the first nonstop scheduled service from The People’s Republic of China to the Hawaiian Islands. Once approved, service between Beijing and Honolulu will operate once a week beginning this fall.
