Hawaiian Airlines Launches Direct Service From Honolulu to Sendai, Japan

On Tuesday, Hawaiian Airlines officially launched direct service from Honolulu to Sendai, Japan, which represents the carrier’s fifth destination in Japan and the 10th new destination it has introduced in less than three years.

It’s an exciting time for Hawaiian Airlines with its recent launch to Auckland, New Zealand and upcoming Taipei, Taiwan inaugural in early July – allowing U.S. mainland travelers easier access to the Pacific.

Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku region of northern Honshu, which has a population of more than nine million. Sendai is known in Japan as "Mori no Miyako," or Forest City, for its many green spaces in its city center. It is also known for its high quality rice and for its summer Tanabata Festival, which draws thousands of visitors from across Japan.
