Hawaiian Airlines Raises Fares and SurchargesMay 22, 2008 By: Mark Rogers
Hawaiian Airlines today announced increases to interisland airfares and transpacific fuel surcharges to help combat rising operating costs caused by record-breaking fuel prices.
“Fuel prices are now 100 percent higher than a year ago, so unfortunately just like every other business that consumes oil, we must raise our fares to help offset some of this increase,” said Keoni Wagner, Hawaiian’s vice president of public affairs.
Effective May 27, Hawaiian is increasing its one-way interisland fares by $10, raising its lowest fare from $54 to $64.
Hawaiian is increasing its fuel surcharges for transpacific service between Hawaii and the following destinations:
- Mainland US: Increase of $35 each way, from $65 to $100.
- Sydney: Increase of $40 each way, from $120 to $160.
- Pago Pago: Increase of $45 each way, from $65 to $110.
- Papeete: Increase of $55 each way, from $65 to $120.
- Manila: Increase of $35, from $115 to $150 for Honolulu to Manila only.
There will be no change to the existing $100 surcharge from Manila to Honolulu.
