Master carvers from across the Pacific come together with Hawaii’s carvers to create canoes and tikis from wood logs and to demonstrate techniques for making traditional-style surfboards, drums and thatched houses.
The event also features cultural arts lessons, performances and a Polynesian crafts fair. During the closing weekend, watch the Parade of Canoes down Front Street and then head to Kamehameha Iki beach park for an ancient Hawaiian ceremony and sunset launch of just-built canoes, followed by island food, music and dance.
