Highlighted Features From the New High-Density Wi-Fi in Las Vegas

Cell PhoneMobilitie LLC and MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) have collaborated with Cisco Systems to create a high-density Wi-Fi network in Resort owned Vegas locations, designed to re-define the wireless guest experience by addressing rapidly changing business and consumer demands.

The highest performing LAN in the industry, the new Wi-Fi allows travelers with multiple wireless devices to enjoy high-speed internet, 30 percent faster connectivity for longer battery life, services such as location based “push” advertising and instantly conveyable relevant information, including offer notifications for MGM Rewards program members, plus a location-based map providing users with point-by-point directions to nearby attractions.

The new Wi-Fi is especially geared towards meetings, now with the ability to support 120,000 concurrent users, as opposed to the previous 4,000.  The Wi-Fi can be sectioned off into highly customizable private networks, allowing meetings organizers to design targeted information such as notes and reminders, updates to agendas and last minute changes.  The service also offers a host of special apps specific to meeting type and group needs.

By the end of 2012, the Bellagio, the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and The Mirage all had the service, and by late summer 2013, the Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur will join the ranks.  The Wi-Fi currently extends to low-rise public spaces, like pools and casinos, and will soon be available in guest rooms.
