Las Vegas' Comedy Stop Gets a Move On

July 21, 2009 By: Megan Stride

Bob Kephart's Las Vegas Comedy Stop has thrived for nearly 20 years at the Tropicana, but when an old joke falls flat, it's time to leave it in the dust.

After the Tropicana failed to renew Kephart's contract this year, the club owner and talent scout withdrew from the resort on April 2. After considering offers from four other Vegas hotels, Kephart chose to move his business over to the Sahara's famed Congo Room, which in the past has hosted the likes of Don Rickles, George Carlin, Liza Minnelli and Buddy Hackett. The new Comedy Stop premiered there last night and will be on nightly at 9 p.m.

Kephart hired some of today's big comedy names back when they were just starting out, including Ray Romano, Rosie O'Donnell, Tim Allen and Drew Carey. His original Comedy Shop is still going strong at the Tropicana in Atlantic City.
