Las Vegas kicked off Cinco de Mayo by hitting a 16-foot Mr. Las Vegasdotcom piñata, a character featured in Vegas' latest advertising campaign. The San Diego event ended with a grand prize winner breaking open the piñata for a free trip to Vegas.

"No other destination offers the entertainment, dining, daylife and overall experience during the summer that Las Vegas offers," said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). "We host nearly 40 million visitors every year, with more than half of them using the internet to plan their trips. This event was the perfect way for summer travelers to 'hit up Las Vegasdotcom' for the best of Las Vegas."

All participants received a travel voucher good for $50 off a purchase of $250 or more on LasVegas.com. One winner walked away with $5,000 toward a summer vacation in Las Vegas. Showgirls and the real Mr. Las Vegasdotcom were on hand to congratulate the winner and all participants.
