MGM Resorts International has begun rolling out a new solar-powered mobile device charging station, called Powersol, at its Las Vegas properties, including the Aria Resort & Casino, Bellagio and MGM Grand.
Developed by ZON, Powersol's solar powered mobile device charging technology is integrated in to a commercial grade patio umbrella enabling hotels and guests to charge their smartphones and other mobile devices sustainably while lounging by the pool, instead of heading back to their room.
Powersol has been installed at Aria Resort & Casino, Bellagio and MGM Grand, with more anticipated over the coming months, MGM said.
Joyen Vakil, senior vice president of design and development at MGM Resorts International, said that the deal with ZON and Powersol fits with MGM’s goal to provide tech-friendly amenities for the company’s guests.
ZON has also inked deals to offer Powersol with clients including Starwood Resorts Worldwide; Simon Properties; CBRE; Le Pain Quotidien; UCLA, USC and more.
