MGM Resorts International has officially opened its newest outdoor dining and entertainment venue, The Park, located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Situated between New York-New York and Monte Carlo Resorts, The Park provides a social gathering space where guests can experience indoor and outdoor culinary offerings, art and entertainment. The Park serves as the gateway to the new 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena, which opens today, April 6.
MGM Resorts Chairman and CEO Jim Murren marked The Park’s official opening with a ceremony alongside Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow and Southern Nevada Water Authority General Manager John Entsminger, who also presented The Park with the Authority’s 2016 Water Hero Award, which recognizes businesses or individuals dedicated to water conservation and devoted to saving millions of gallons of water annually.
The design for The Park was a collaborative effort led by MGM Resorts International in partnership with master planner Cooper, Robertson & Partners, leading landscape architecture and urban design firm !melk, and Marnell Architecture. During construction, the property implemented an integrated environmental sustainability programin an effort to address energy and water conservation, green building and waste management.
Vegetation, water features and artful shade structures located throughout the property are meant to create a comfortable environment for guests, while hand-laid mosaic tile patterns, marble accents and bright color palettes aim to evoke a sense of the American Southwest.
The Park provides an outdoor space that is inspired by the well-known plazas, promenades and squares that have served as important public gathering destinations within the world’s major cities. The venue offers multiple common spaces for socializing, relaxing, exploring and sampling the surrounding tastes, sights and sounds of Las Vegas.
During the day, visitors can enjoy the sun on the property’s patio-style outdoor seating, or cool off in the shade beneath mature trees that rise 50 feet from the ground. Guests can also relax near the multiple water features, including a water wall that spans more than 100 feet in length along the entrance. The Park also has live entertainment such as acoustic guitarists, dancers and sand artists.
The property’s landscaping includes shade structures, artwork, and arial LED displays. Bliss Dance, a 40-foot-tall sculpture of a dancing woman created by artist Marco Cochrane, stands as the centerpiece of The Park’s design and is illuminated by nearly 3,000 colored LED lights at night.
For dining, The Park offers a range of options. Beerhaus provides a variation of the classic American beer hall with outdoor seating and a selection of farm-to-table meats, a craft brew list, live music and plenty of social games like foosball and ping pong. There is also Shake Shack, California Pizza Kitchen and Sake Rok, a lunch and dinner spot serving up sushi, Japanese cuisine and private sake label, and Bruxie, which serves gourmet waffles.
