New Retail Center to Hit the Strip

Add another attraction to the Las Vegas Strip. Town Square, a 1.5 million-square-foot center with shopping, dining and entertainment, will debut in November just south of the Mandalay Bay. The "super regional lifestyle center," will consist of more than 12 restaurants and several entertainment venues; plus more than 150 shops, many of which are found at local malls. Joseph Tagliola, president of retail for Turnberry Associates, the company creating the center, characterizes the center as a "respite from the bright lights of The Strip; the perfect place for the entire family to enjoy." It includes a 9,000 square-foot children's park featuring soda fountains, a hedge maze and a 25-foot-tall tree house that kids can scale and repel. An important design element of Town Square is its landscaping, which uses trees, vines, trellises and canopies to give off a tranquil vibe. Simon Sykes, vice president of Development Design Group, Town Square's designer, calls the development an "oasis in the middle of the desert," and "the antithesis of The Strip as we know it." Town Square also will feature a concierge center with multilingual staff.
