Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas Closing

Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, NV, is closing its doors in May 2.

It's a sad day; the resort is a victim of the economy. Set in a manmade area of Nevada, the property received the AAA Five Diamond award last year.

The hotel will remain fully operational until the May closing date.

Travelers who have have booked past May 2 are being notified; Ritz-Carlton will work to move them elsewhere in their grand portfolio of luxury hotels.

Ritz-Carlton managed the resort, which is owned by Village Hospitality LLC, an arm of Deutsche Bank, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Village Hospitality, L.L.C. had purchased the 349-room resort and spa located 17 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The prior owner of the resort sought reorganization in April 2008, and the acquisition by Village Hospitality concludes a 10-month bankruptcy period.

The resort also got top kudos from travelers on TripAdvisor.com.

“I loved this property. It was really a great place to stay. It was off season so the food selection was a little light. The menu was a little pricey. If you want to go to Vegas to see the shows but want to be away from the strip this was a great place,” said one contributor.

“Service was impeccable. The hotel was fabulous - stayed on the club level which includes breakfast, lunch, evening drinks and light food. Totally worth the extra money! Being off the strip made the Vegas trip even more relaxing,” said another.

“Where to begin, the Spa was excellent!!! Best Ritz-Carlton spa I've been to. Food was great, pool side bar/food service was great. Did not get a chance to golf. They have a casino and this little village that had a few nice restraunts which weren't very expensive yet had great food and character,” said a third, echoing the others’ positive reviews.
