On Site: Four Queens Hotel & Casino

In mid-February, while attending the US Airways Vacations 2009 Las Vegas Scavenger Hunt, Travel Agent had the chance to tour the Four Queens Hotel & Casino. While the 2.5-star property may not receive the attention afforded its more glittering neighbors, it’s still a valid player, especially in a destination such as Las Vegas, which attracts visitors across the budget spectrum.

The 690-room hotel is located in downtown Las Vegas on the Fremont Street Experience, a five-block entertainment complex dominated by Viva Vision, a 1,500 foot screen suspended 90 feet over the street, displaying free shows from dusk to midnight. Four Queens Hotel & Casino recently completed a $20 million remodeling of all of its guest rooms and suites, as well as a refurbishment of the casino floor and public areas, and the opening of the Canyon Club Las Vegas, a nightclub venue. A subsequent phase of remodeling of the guest rooms and suites’ bathrooms is currently underway.

The hotel also has Hugo’s Cellar, a cozy restaurant that was twice voted "Most Romantic restaurant" by the Las Vegas Review Journal.

For the best Las Vegas Strip and mountain views, book rooms on the 10th floor and up. If your clients want Fremont Street Experience views, book them into rooms in the North Tower on floors 4-6.

We asked why the property only had a 2.5 star rating and were told that it was because of the lack of a pool (Four Queens guests do have access to the pool at the nearby sister property, Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel).
