With convention season gearing up, many moms and dads are bringing the entire brood with them to Las Vegas. And while those teenagers in tow may not be old enough to enjoy everything this desert oasis has to offer, there are plenty of things here to keep them thrilled.
For example, the Stratosphere has some of the biggest thrills in town. They’re located more than 900 feet above the Las Vegas Strip and these rides fright and delight. Insanity–The Ride spins at 40 mph and edges over the tower’s ledge. Oh, and you’ll be face down. X Scream travels about 30 feet over the edge and will freak you out with outlandish free-fall maneuvers while racing back and forth from the edge. The Big Shot shoots up 160 feet in 2.5 seconds along a 238-foot mast perched atop the tower and drops you faster than gravity.
The Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas features the world’s only indoor double-loop, double-corkscrew roller coaster, the Canyon Blaster. There are a total of 24 rides here including the Rim Runner flume ride, the SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D Thrill Ride, laser tag, bumper cars, an arcade, circus acts and much more.
Roller coaster lovers will love the adrenaline rush from Speed— The Ride at the Sahara. It goes forwards and backwards at speeds up to 70 mph. The Manhattan Express at New York-New York is a head-popping, high-speed tour around the property that features what was the world’s first-ever heart line roll, which provides a sensation similar to that felt by a pilot during a barrel roll in an airplane.
For those looking to keep their feet on the gorund, but still want an other-worldy experience, the Las Vegas Hilton features Star Trek: The Experience. There’s the BORG Invasion 4D, where you’ll get "assimilated" into the BORG Collective. The Klingon Encounter will put you on a Federation shuttle craft and inject you into the middle of a major battle. There are also re-creations of the U.S.S. Enterprise's bridge, turbo lift and grand corridor, a museum featuring Star Trek props and Quark’s Bar & Restaurant.
