The Top Five Las Vegas Travel Stories of 2015

Las Vegas

The year is coming to a close, which means we are looking back at our most-read coverage out of Las Vegas in 2015. Take a look.

First up, pool season in Las Vegas is always a hot topic. It’s all about the best parties, the coolest water and the most delicious drinks. David Moseder took a look at some of the most memorable pools this year. He included Drai’s Beach Club and Nightclub. Located on The Cromwell’s rooftop this area has several pools and during the evening hours DJs provide the entertainment and the dancing. Wet Republic at MGM Grand is another option we like because of its large saltwater pools and dipping pools. It is easy to spend all day here on a daybed or in a party cabana. Here is the place to grab signature cocktails and premium bottles.

Lets not forget how Las Vegas started off the year. Hint: It was with a bang. In 2014, Las Vegas welcomed more than 40 million visitors. Sin City credited its success to renovations and new properties like The Cromwell, which is on the site of the old Barbary Coast and Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall. Or that time when the Sahara Hotel & Casino became the SLS Las Vegas. It seems that 2015 was just as exciting - we can’t wait to see the official numbers on how 2015 compared to 2014.

It seems that big news always follows the airlines. And in 2015, Norwegian launched new flights between Las Vegas, the Caribbean and Europe. Starting just last month, Norwegian opened its nonstop service from Las Vegas to Stockholm and Copenhagen. One thing is for sure, with the increased ease of flying out of and into Las Vegas, it will remain a popular destination.

Everyone was excited about Fourth of July in Las Vegas in 2015, and we can’t blame them. There was the “Red, White and Boom” concert at Mandalay Bay and The Stratosphere Casino Hotel hosted an Independence-themed pool party. For Independence Day in 2016, we know to make our bookings in Las Vegas in advance, so we don’t miss out on the festivities.

The Bellagio fountains are always a crowd pleaser. This year animation and water choreography came to the fountains during Ichikawa Somegoro’s "Koi Tsukami" performance. Enormous fish and the sea were projected onto the water during MGM Resorts’ celebration of Japanese culture and the arts. We will keep our eye on the fountains in 2016 and let you know what’s playing.
