With Mother’s Day right around the corner, you may have some clients looking to make last minute plans to treat mom on her special day. We’ve rounded up some events travelers should keep in mind when visiting Las Vegas this holiday weekend.
First Friday Art Celebration
The First Friday Art Celebration, a monthly event that takes place in the downtown Las Vegas Arts District and displays works of more than 100 artists, will be hosting its next event on May 6.
The celebration includes paintings, ceramics, mixed media, photography, jewelry, textile arts and sculptures. In addition, more than 80 indoor arts, food, drink and shop venues will be open for business, while 50 outdoor artists, artisans and entertainers provide entertainment outdoors. The First Friday Celebration is organized by the First Friday Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting local arts and culture.
The event is free and open to the public from 6pm -11pm on the first Friday of every month.

The Springs Preserve Takes Part in Las Vegas’ Museum Month
Las Vegas’ Museum Month, or Museum Season, takes place from May 1, 2016 - September 1, 2016 and allows visitors the opportunity to explore more than 16 historical sites and museum locations for free or at discounted prices.
Locations participating in the event include The Mob Museum, The Neon Museum, The National Atomic Testing Museum, The DISCOVERY Children's Museum and Springs Preserve, among others.
On May 7, The Springs Preserve will be hosting its ‘Ohana Festival, a family-friendly celebration of Hawaiian and Pacific Islander culture. The Preserve is spread across 110 acres of native habitats and archaeological sites, with hiking trails offering views of botanical gardens, interactive science and nature exhibits, live animal shows, classes and other events.
The ‘Ohana Festival is designed to commemorate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month and stress the importance of ‘ohana (family) in Pacific Island cultures. Traditional food, live music, performances by local hula schools, cultural workshops, island crafts activities, an outdoor luau will all be included in the celebration.
Guests ages 21 and over can also visit Maui Brewing Co., which serves beers and tropical drinks crafted by Divine Events.
The ‘Ohana Festival will begin at 10 am on May 7, and the admission price is $5.

37th Annual San Gennaro Feast to Return This Month
The 37th Annual San Gennaro Feast is set to take place at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas from May 4-8.
This family-friendly Italian food and music festival is held bi-annually in honor of Saint Gennaro, the Patron Saint of Naples, Italy and offers a range of activities and attractions including ethnic food vendors, live entertainment on the main stage, arts and crafts, home exhibits, pony rides and a petting zoo, face painters and amusement rides and games.
Show times are Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm - 11pm; Friday 4pm - 12am; Saturday 12pm - 12am; and Sunday 12pm - 11pm.
The price of admission is $10.61, and children under 54 inches can attend for free.

Bellagio’s Newest Exhibit Looks at 20th Century Icons
The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s latest exhibit, Yousuf Karsh: Icons of The 20th Century, opened in March and is the gallery’s first photography exhibit in nearly a decade.
Recognized as one of the greatest portrait photographers of the 20th century, Karsh’s work includes a collection of images of some of the most notable men and women in Hollywood, encompassing the arts, sports and politics. Organized in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts , Boston, the exhibit’s 60 portraits include Winston Churchill, Pablo Picasso, Muhammad Ali and Grace Kelly, among others.
In addition to viewing the works, an audio tour is included with admission and further educates guests about the lives and significance of each icon.
The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s ‘Yousuf Karsh: Icons of The 20th Century’ exhibit runs through September 5 and is open daily from 10am - 8pm. Tickets are $16; $14 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older; students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free.
For groups of 10 or more, the gallery offers special pricing of $12 per person.

Art Festival of Henderson
The annual Art Festival of Henderson is set to take place this year, May 7-8, at the Henderson Events Plaza, located about 20 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip.
The family-friendly event will include works by contemporary artists as well as fine craft, fashion and home décor artisans, and chalk artist. Paintings, pottery, jewelry and photography will also be on display and available for purchase. The festival also includes live entertainment, food, and a kid’s corner offering a range of interactive activities.
Show times are from 9am-4pm. Both parking and admission are free for this event.
