As Las Vegas faces one tourism challenge after another, the Vdara Hotel is still on track for an October 1 opening. Vdara will be the first of CityCenter’s developments to debut, followed by Mandarin Oriental, Crystals retail and entertainment district and ARIA Resort & Casino, all opening in December. The all-suite, 57-story Vdara will be one of Sin City’s rare non-gaming and smoke-free hotels. Guests with a yen to gamble can access the Bellagio by a pedestrian bridge, or dip into the adjacent ARIA once it’s open. RV Architecture LLC, led by Rafael Viñoly, created Vdara’s distinctive crescent shape and unique skin of patterned glass. Travel Agent is intrigued by the proposed exterior sculptural installation by artist Nancy Rubins, who intends to create a piece similar to her “Big Pleasure Point” creation at New York’s Lincoln Center.

Vdara will have 1,495 suites in all, ranging from 500 to 1,650 square feet. These will all have fully equipped kitchens with stemware, flatware and china. Room amenities will include personalized minibar with refrigerator stocking services and spa-style bathrooms with soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. Suites will have open floor plans and windows delivering expansive city and mountain views. For dramatic vistas, book one of the Panoramic Suites, which measure 836 square feet and provide 270-degree views. Select Deluxe Suites offer views of the pool and Bellagio fountains for an additional $40 per night.
The two-story Penthouse Suites overlook CityCenter and go for $2,000 per night. At 1,447 square feet, they have two master bedrooms, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and oversized living space with superior amenities. For large families and groups traveling together, book the Two-Bedroom Penthouse. This has two bedrooms that connect to a one-bedroom penthouse, and also provides two sleeper sofas. Ten people can sleep comfortably. The hotel also has 94 connecting Deluxe Suites and 77 Vdara Suites to Deluxe Suite combinations.
Spa Offerings and Dining
Vdara Health & Beauty is a 16,000-square-foot, two-level wellness spa, salon and fitness complex. The spa has 11 treatment rooms—one is a couple’s suite—and three relaxation lounges. There will also be spa cabanas with semi-private plunge pools located on the east side of the resort’s main pool in a semi-secluded area of the pool deck. The hotel’s year-round outdoor pool will also have nine fully appointed retreat cabanas. Martin Heierling, the innovator behind Bellagio’s AAA Four-Diamond restaurant Sensi, will serve as executive chef for all of Vdara’s food and beverage venues. Silk Road is a modern trans-ethnic restaurant with a focus on organic local food products. The Silk Road bar and the main dining room offer views of CityCenter and the main porte-cochere. These will definitely be the see-and-be seen spots in the restaurant, although you can also book one of the booths or the private dining room.
Bar Vdara will be an eclectic lobby lounge that connects to an intimate outdoor garden space where guests can relax on swings next to a curved reflecting pool. Vdara will also have a Sky Pool & Lounge and 10,000 square feet of conference space. Once Vdara opens, your clients can expect rates ranging from $159 to $2,000.
