Trio of companies to invest more than $56 million in area enhancements
Redquartz Boundary Ltd. (RQB), the new Sawgrass Marriott
Resort and Spa ownership group, along with the Sawgrass Marriott and TPC
Sawgrass teams, recently announced a plan to establish the
premier golf, spa, beach and convention destinations in the world.
The trio is investing more than $56 million into the
project, which will include upgrades to the Marriott guestrooms, extensive
enhancements to the famed The Players Stadium Course and a new TPC Sawgrass
The Players Stadium Course is nearing the completion of its
multi-million dollar renovation project initiated by the PGA Tour under the
direction of world-renowned course architect Pete Dye. The adjacent Dye's
Valley Course, a collaboration of Pete Dye, architect Bobby Weed and former
Champion's Tour Player Jerry Pate, was named "Most Under-rated Course in
+ Leisure Golf and underwent more than $1 million in enhancements this
year, including landscaping improvements and bunker reconstruction.
Both courses will be complemented by a new 77,000
square-foot TCP Sawgrass clubhouse, which is scheduled to open in May of 2007.
Featuring views of the ninth and 18th holes, the clubhouse will spotlight an
11,000-square-foot event lawn for spectators, a Main Dining Grille with
terrace, ample banquet and meeting space, a Champions Lounge, separate member/
player locker rooms, a golf shop, an expansive foyer/gallery and numerous
exhibits and displays depicting the history of the PGA Tour and The Players.
