Starwood to Open New Westin Hotel in Jekyll Island, Georgia

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced a new Westin Hotel in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The 200-room property will be part of the Jekyll Island Convention Center Complex. Both the hotel and the Convention Center Complex are scheduled for completion in February 2014.

The Convention Center Complex will feature a 128,000 square foot, fully renovated convention center, a 45,000 square foot ballroom, retail shops and a beachfront promenade. The Westin Jekyll Island will also boast 5,700 square feet of meeting and banquet facilities for weddings, social galas and business functions.

In addition, the Westin Jekyll Island will offer ocean views, direct beach access and proximity to the National Historic Landmark District, golf courses and outdoor recreation opportunities that include eco-tours, dolphin watching and kayaking. Guestrooms will feature in-room high-speed Internet access and an ergonomic workspace. The hotel will also include a full-service restaurant and the WestinWORKOUT ® gym.

Westin has expanded its portfolio by 30 percent over the past five years and plans to open another 30 hotels by the end of 2016.
