Tour Operators Return to New Orleans, Times Reports

June 5, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent

The New York Times is reporting that several tour operators are resuming tours to New Orleans after canceling or rerouting the trips in the period following Hurricane Katrina. The paper reported that, "Collette Vacations resumed its $699, five-day tours of the French Quarter at the end of May," and that Globus plans to restart tours to the Big Easy this fall with its $2,259, seven-day Romance of the South tour, which cruises Biloxi Bay and visits Natchez, Miss.; Lafayette, La.; and New Orleans. On the last day of the Globus trip, according to The Times, "travelers have the option of volunteering for light cleanup efforts such as painting gazebos or planting flowers in New Orleans parks."
