Caneel Bay in St. John Begins Another Season With New Activities, Culinary Offerings

Following its annual September/October break, Caneel Bay Resort in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, now welcomes clients with updates from new sake menus at the Sushi Bar to off-shore powerboat excursions.

The Sushi Bar has been a favorite among Caneel Bay guests since opening its doors in 2012. This year, the bar is kicking it up a notch with a new sake menu featuring seven versions of the fermented beverage, such as Moonstone Plum, a premium level Ginjo sake blended with natural plum flavor and integrated with notes of citrus and almond; as well as a Momokawa "G" Organic, a super-premium Junmai Gino Genshu sake.

The new menu will accompany the Sushi Bar's fresh selection of sushi items, and pairs well with the signature Baja and Geisha rolls.

Over at The Turtle Bay Estate House, Executive Chef Anthony Dawodu has introduced a new menu based on local, seasonal ingredients. Entrees of locally caught snapper, mahi-mahi, and lobster are accompanied by mixed greens, micro arugula and baby tomatoes from the family-run Josephine's Greens on St. John. Appetizers range from a seafood platter of grilled octopus, scallop, and shrimp drizzled in a lemon puree; hand cut pasta with crab meat, sea urchin, tomatoes and Lardo, seasoned with chili and lemon; as well as braised short ribs with ravioli.

On Honeymoon Beach a new dining outpost features treats from Cannella, the resort's coffee shop and Italian gelateria. The beach hut location serves Cannella paninis, gelato, smoothies, cold beverages and other snacks.

Break a sweat at the fitness center with a new equipment from Body Fit, Precor, and Endurance brand machines. In addition to the fitness center, the resort's M'Ocean Studio offers daily fitness classes, including Zumba, Yoga and Pilates overlooking the beautiful water of Caneel Bay Resort.

Take your adventures onto the water with new Nauti Nymph Power Boat Rentals available through the concierge. The resort is happy to prepare a picnic lunch for guests as they explore the waters off St. John. Home to the area's largest selection of high-speed boats, Nauti Nymph's fleet includes three styles of powerboats: Everglades and Fountain powerboats, and World Cat power catamarans.

If shopping is your sport, the gift shop features a new look and layout. Renamed Cololoba Boutique, the shop showcases jewelry from designers Chan Luu and Gillian Julius, spring fashions from Europe, handmade bags from Spain along with signature Caneel Bay items.

Turtle Town, Caneel Bay's onsite activities center for children, has rolled out brand new programming for children of all ages with more outdoor activities and learning experiences. Scheduled activities now include steel pan drum classes, cooking classes and hiking in addition to arts and crafts, movie nights and more. All activities take place under the guidance of caring, knowledgeable and fully trained supervisors and can be booked as part of full or half-day sessions.
