A major blizzard is continuing to cause widespread travel disruptions across the United States.
The New York Times reports that travel bans have been lifted in New York City. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo lifted the ban on travel on most roads across the state as of 7:30 am, and said that MTA and PATH service was expected to resume Tuesday morning.
Flight Cancellations
Airlines have cancelled more than 7,500 flights through Wednesday, USA Today reports. Hardest hit were airports in the Northeast: New York JFK, Newark Liberty, New York LaGuardia, Boston and Philadelphia, as welll as airpots in Hartford and Providence.
Most major airlines have waived change fees for passengers affected by the storm. So far airlines that have issued waivers are Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and US Airways, Delta, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Porter Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet.

Accuweather.com is forecasting snow totals in excess of two feet across a large part of Long Island and New England, including Manchester, New Hampshire; the Boston area, Worcester, Massachusetts; Willimantic and Groton, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; and Islip, New York.
The storm is also expected to cause strong winds, especially in southeastern New England, and coastal flooding and erosion from New Jersey northward.
